Abstract: »This qualitative study examines the portrayal of women's objectification in Marguerite through dialogues and scenes in “The Last Duel” film, employing Martha Nussbaum's objectification and Blain Brown's cinematography theory. The results portray Marguerite through three narrative structures based on the main characters: Jean De Carrouges, Jacques Le Gris, and Marguerite. Although the narrative technique aims to understand events from various perspectives, it is lacking in exploring Marguerite's emotions and feelings, especially as a victim of sexual violence. In addition, Objectification forms identified include instrumentality, denial of subjectivity, inertness, ownership, violability, and denial of autonomy. It demonstrates that Marguerite lives in a social environment related to patriarchal culture, in this case, the society in 14th-century France.« (Source: Journal of Gender and Millennium Development Studies)
